Webinar series: Quantitative biology at the molecular and cellular levels: leveraging the power of AI

The webinar series will feature speakers actively engaged in developing novel applications of Artificial Intelligence and Deep Learning techniques to advance experimental and computational structural biology and other key research areas in biology. Each presentation will be followed by a 20 minutes Q/A session.

The goal of these series is to illustrate and critically appraise the advances made possible by these techniques and raise the awareness of the scientific community to their future potential. The series should also help delineate the multi-disciplinary collaborative research environment and the training components that are necessary for the successful integration of AI-based techniques with research in the life sciences.

Schedule:

  • 31 March: Assessment of large scale applications of AlphaFold2 in structural bioinformatics, Pedro Beltrao (EMBL-EBI)
  • 14 April: The coming of age of in silico PPI screening, Qian Cong (University of Texas Southwestern)
  • 28 April: Machine learning for reconstructing dynamic protein structures from cryo-EM images, Ellen Zhong (Massachusetts Institute of Technology)

Organised by the VIB-VUB Center for Structural Biology, VIB Bioinformatics Core and ELIXIR Belgium.
Abstracts and recordings are provided here.
