Aligned with VIB’s vision to address the needs of the scientific community and research support staff, VIB Training & Conferences strives to build a learning culture through the highest quality standards by promoting curiosity, creativity, research integrity, responsibility and networking.  

By investing in the growth of talent across the life sciences ecosystem, from early-career researchers to policymakers, and across academia and industry, VIB Training & Conferences’ activities contribute to the economic and social development of Flanders, while creating worldwide impact. T&C, together with ELIXIR Belgium, offers a bi-yearly Research software engineering day and is strongly involved in organizing bioinformatics training courses that contribute to the generation of useful biological knowledge. The offering covers basic and intermediate training to the life sciences research community, focusing on bioinformatics, omics data analysis, programming, HPC tools, and reproducibility. 

As ELIXIR Belgium Training Coordinator, Alexander Botzki leads the establishment of the Node’s Training portfolio. Together, members of the ELIXIR-BE community contribute to activities of the ELIXIR Training Platform such as BioSchemas, the ELIXIR Training Registry TeSS, Training SPLASH, ELIXIR-GOBLET Train-the-trainer, and others.
